Sevylor Inflatable Canoes

Sevylor’s founding in 1948 to its current role as the dominant supplier of a wide range of inflatables–such as kayaks, boats, and towables–is marked by plenty of original inventions and innovations along the way. Established in a city suburb of Vitry, France, by electronics engineer Berco Grimbert, Sevylor originally built electrical accessories, with a sideline business dedicated to manufacture PVC consumer goods using its high-frequency welding machines. The first inflatable to receive rave notice was a small bathtub called the Dou Dou, the perfect tub for postwar France because the inflatable tub was portable, convenient, practical, easy to clean, durable, and, best of all, affordable.

In 1986, Sevylor invented the Ski Bob, the revolutionized the towable business. Today, Sevylor’s innovative designs include hunting and fishing boats, specialty boats, kayaks, canoes, towables, snow tubes, air beds and more.

Here are two Sevylor inflatable canoes I like. You can see more inflatable canoes and kayaks here.

Sevylor Inflatable Colorado Canoe

Because it combines the stability, maneuverability, and sea-worthiness of a kayak with the comfort, looks, and styling of a traditional North American canoe, the Sevylor Colorado inflatable canoe is ideally suited for rough waters, lakes, ocean fishing, and diving.

The Colorado is equipped with a raised bow and stern, and has a design that’s as close in shape, comfort, and styling to the North American Indian canoe as an inflatable boat can get. The boat is also notably comfortable, with a pair of flexible bucket seats and you can attach an optional 12-volt trolling motor for easy cruising. Other features include durable PVC bladders with nylon covers, support for either canoe or kayak paddles, two directional stakes, a repair kit, and a nylon carrying bag. The maximum capacity for the Colorado is 440 pounds when inflated.
